On Oct. 7, my 26th birthday, I'll run 26 miles in the Chicago Marathon. This adds a challenge to our trip. According to my training regimen, the trip coincides with one of my more intense weeks. I think I'll bump my long run from Sunday to Monday. We aren't driving that morning, plus we'll be in Philadelphia, which means I can finish my run at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Rocky-style. Sandy can be my Mickey: "You're gonna eat lightnin' and you're gonna crap thunder!"

The rest of the week should be a little easier. Most of the running days are in Boston -- a good running town, I hear -- and short enough (5 miles) that Sandy could keep me company on his Roller Blades.
